The Miami HEAT announced Wednesday that Gale Nelson has been named the third public address announcer in franchise history.
Nelson, an experienced public address announcer and familiar South Florida voice, will make his official debut Oct. 4 at Kaseya Center when the HEAT host the Orlando Magic for the team’s annual Red, White & Pink Game.
His connection to the organization dates back to the franchise’s first game in 1988, which Nelson attended as a 12-year-old fan.
Nearly four decades later, he will become part of the HEAT’s gameday experience from one of the arena’s most recognizable positions.
“We set out to find a talented voice that embodied the energy, passion, and diversity of HEAT Nation and Gale was the clear choice,” HEAT Chief Marketing Officer Michael McCullough said.
“His professionalism, experience, and passion for the organization were evident throughout the audition process. Gale’s talent will now become a part of the memories our fans create and share at Kaseya Center.”
A South Florida native, Nelson has more than 20 years of experience in communications and marketing.
He has served as a public address announcer for Florida International University athletics since 2023 and has worked as a fill-in public address announcer for the Miami Dolphins since 2022.
Nelson is also a Howard University alumnus and has built a career that combines sports, communications and community engagement.
He currently serves as president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, where he has helped develop partnerships supporting children and families throughout South Florida.
Nelson also has longstanding ties to the HEAT as a former season ticket member and lifelong fan of the organization.
He follows Jay Rokeach, who served as the franchise’s first public address announcer for 28 seasons, and Michael Biamonte, who held the position for the past nine years.
Nelson’s first official game behind the microphone will come as the HEAT prepare for the 2026-27 season and welcome Orlando to Kaseya Center on Oct. 4.
