Homestead High Rallies Behind Football Team Despite Early Challenges

The Homestead Senior High School football team is facing challenges this year.

The Broncos hold a 1-3 record after losing to Southridge, 59-18.

Coach Arties Knight believes the team has potential and could become a winning program.

“We lost many of our starters from last year and we are rebuilding with young players,” he said.

Leading players include: Jahmir McCall, an all-around athlete who can play multiple positions; Prince Howell and Jacob Villa rotate at quarterback; William Williams plays running back, as does Jermaine Green.

This past Friday, the Broncos held a pep rally to boost school spirit. The marching band performed alongside the dance and cheerleading teams.

Dancers from Florida Memorial University joined the celebration, while mascots from Florida International University and the Miami Heat also took part.

Students filled the gym with cheers, showing plenty of school spirit as they rallied behind their team.
