The South Dade Senior Highschool Wrestling Team posing after their 13th successful triumph!

The South Dade Senior High School wrestling team won another state championship on March 7 in Kissimmee, continuing one of the most successful runs in high school wrestling in the state of Florida.

The Buccaneers captured the title at the Florida High School Athletic Association Wrestling State Championships, extending the program’s remarkable dominance.

The Bucs wrestling team has a long tradition of success and has now won 13 consecutive state titles. Overall, the program has claimed 29 state championships, including dual state championships, making South Dade one of the most decorated wrestling programs in Florida.

Several South Dade wrestlers delivered strong performances throughout the tournament. Six Bucs wrestlers won individual state championships. They include Bryan Morales at 113 pounds, Guillermo Jaramillo at 144 pounds, Jovani Solis at 144 pounds, Armand Williams at 150 pounds, Tyree Graham at 165 pounds and Jonathan Moreno at 175 pounds.

Other wrestlers also placed in the championship meet and contributed valuable points to the team’s overall victory. Jose Caballa finished in the 215-pound weight class, and Sebastian Morera also placed in the state competition.

South Dade wrestlers advanced through a competitive field that included some of the best high school wrestlers in Florida. The team’s success reflects months of preparation, conditioning and competition throughout the season.

Head coach Humberto Reyna Jr. credited the team’s work ethic and commitment to the program.

“The kids work hard and they hold each other accountable. They trust in the program,” said Coach Reyna.

According to Coach Reyna, the season did not begin easily for the team. The Bucs faced challenges early on and had to work through doubts before finding their rhythm as the season progressed.

“We started a little slow and faced some struggles early,” Coach Reyna said.

“But the kids worked hard all summer and stayed focused. Now we are unstoppable.”

South Dade has built a reputation for producing strong wrestlers year after year, and the program continues to attract athletes who are committed to the sport and willing to put in the work required to compete at a high level.

After the championship victory, the team will take a short break before beginning preparations for next season.

“We will take a few days off and then get back to work for next year,” Coach Reyna said.

With another state championship secured, the Buccaneers continue to strengthen their legacy as one of Florida’s most successful high school wrestling programs.
