A new health center is expected to be built in Homestead following recent City Council discussions regarding land use and development approvals.
During a recent meeting, council members considered an ordinance approving the rezoning of a 0.3-acre parcel at 100 NW Seventh St. The request, submitted by New Health Community Centers, would change the property’s designation from multiple apartment zoning to restricted retail commercial zoning.
The approximately 13,047-square-foot parcel is proposed as the future site of a health center intended to serve the surrounding community. City officials said the rezoning is necessary to allow for the development of the medical facility at the location.
In addition to the rezoning request, the council also discussed several site plan amendments related to residential development within the Villages of Homestead development of regional impact.
One amendment was requested by Keys Gate III Trust for a previously approved plan involving a 1,287-unit residential subdivision on an approximately 206-acre parcel. The property is located south of Canal Drive and north of SW 352nd Street.
Council members also reviewed a separate site plan amendment requested by Keys Gate III Trust for the development of a 51 single-family home subdivision on a 10-acre parcel. That site is located south of SW 328th Street and west of SW 152nd Avenue, also within the Villages of Homestead development area.
City officials continue to review the proposed amendments as part of ongoing planning and growth management efforts in Homestead.
