Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz has made significant changes to her command staff.

Assistant Sheriffs Eric Garcia, Brian Rafky and Shawn Browne are in the process of being removed from their positions.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office said the changes are part of an effort to strengthen operations.

“Effective law enforcement requires ongoing assessment and adjustments to enhance our mission and meet evolving demands,” the statement said.

“Leadership changes are not only routine but also essential for the success of public safety.”

Garcia led the Patrol Services unit and recently completed a criminal justice executive leadership program.

Rafky has about 30 years of law enforcement experience and most recently headed Support Services.

Browne served as head of Investigative Services.
