The Kiwanis Club of Homestead-South Dade will host a Community Social Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Portofino Coal Fired Pizza, bringing residents together for an evening centered on community service, fellowship and volunteer opportunities.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Portofino, 650 NE 22nd Terrace in Homestead.
The Community Social will also mark the installation of the Kiwanis Club’s 2026-27 board.
Organizers said the event is designed around the theme “connect, serve and celebrate” and is intended to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the club and its work throughout South Dade.
The club plans to continue hosting a Community Social on the first Wednesday of each month.
In addition to the board installation, the Oct. 7 gathering will include a silent auction featuring several items, including vacation opportunities, a week at a family-friendly resort in Kissimmee and an autographed Miami Heat basketball.
“This is a perfect way to connect with the community we serve, while at the same time letting them know about volunteer opportunities as we continue to carry out Kiwanis International’s goal of improving the lives of children,” Kiwanis President Janina Carranza said.
“It’s also a great chance to bid on some quality auction items.”
Portofino, a longtime supporter of the Kiwanis Club, will offer happy-hour specials and discounted menu pricing during the event.
Attendance is free.
Those interested in attending can register through Eventbrite by searching for “Kiwanis Community Social.”
