2025 Championship Nascar

Kyle Busch with his family looking on raises the NASCAR Cup Championship Trophy at HMS in 2019.

On Aug. 18, Homestead-Miami Speedway announced that the three NASCAR National Series championships will return to the track in 2027.

“The South Florida community is thrilled to once again be the home for NASCAR Championship Weekend in 2026 and 2027, as next year will be the Speedway’s 20th time doing so,” Homestead-Miami Speedway President Guillermo Santa Cruz said in the announcement.

“The excitement, drama and energy surrounding the championship brings tremendous visibility, economic impact and engagement to our community, while showcasing what Homestead-Miami Speedway can offer as a premier destination for major events.”

Both Homestead Mayor Steve Losner and Councilman Sean Fletcher turned to Facebook to celebrate the news.

“The spotlight of racing will be on Homestead in both 2026 and 2027. As it should be,” Losner posted.

“2 Years in a row!!!!! What a huge win for our community!” Fletcher posted.

The track, which many fans and drivers consider to be the best 1.5-mile racetrack in all of NASCAR, hosted the championships for 18 straight years from 2002 through 2019.

In 2020, the final races of the season shifted to Phoenix Raceway and remained there until this year’s return to Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion will be crowned Friday, Nov. 6, with the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race Saturday, Nov. 7, and the NASCAR Cup Series event closing out the weekend Sunday, Nov. 8.

Next year’s championship races will be held Nov. 12, 13 and 14.

As previously reported, Homestead-Miami Speedway is undergoing a $20 million renovation focusing on a new entry gate, upgrades to the Ally Champions Club and an expanded and improved Fan Zone.

“As we celebrate our 30th season, this capital investment reflects NASCAR’s long-term commitment to Homestead-Miami Speedway and the South Florida community,” Santa Cruz said.

“These enhancements will create a more premium and memorable experience for our fans while ensuring we are ready to host NASCAR Championship Weekend at the highest level. We look forward to welcoming fans back to South Florida for a truly special championship experience.”
