The Homestead City Council made several decisions during their December 10th special call meeting. The council agreed to purchase furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the code compliance department, parks and recreation, and open spaces department.
It also approved an ordinance to amend budgets for several funds and departments of the city for fiscal year 2025. This will be done by increasing the total budget revenues and expenditures by more than $17 million. Additionally, the council agreed to amend the general fund to increase the budget by $1.13 million.
During the Committee of the Whole meeting, the council agreed to upgrade the lights at Harris Field Park. Members of the council also discussed the William Krome Sculpture plaque tribute, agreeing to select LED street lights. Lastly, the council discussed the potential uses for grant money the city may receive. One goal might be to build a large emergency center that could be used if South Dade is hit by a hurricane or other major crisis. Another important goal would be to make more improvements to the water system.
