Families across South Miami-Dade will have several major ways to celebrate Independence Day this year, with large Fourth of July events planned at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Tropical Park.
Both celebrations will be held Saturday, July 4, and both are expected to draw residents looking for live entertainment, family activities, food and fireworks as the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
In Homestead, the city’s annual Race to the 4th celebration will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway, located at One Ralph Sanchez Speedway Blvd. The event will run from 5 to 10 p.m., with free admission and free parking.
The celebration has become one of Homestead’s signature community events, bringing together families from across the region for an evening of patriotic celebration at one of South Florida’s most recognizable venues.
This year’s Race to the 4th will include live music and entertainment, a Kids & Art Zone, local food trucks, cold drinks and an interactive fan zone connected to the major soccer events taking place in 2026. The night will conclude with a fireworks finale and a new drone show lighting up the sky over the speedway.
“This event has become a treasured tradition for our City and a destination celebration for visitors from across the region,” Homestead Mayor Steve Losner said in the city’s announcement.
“As we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we look forward to welcoming everyone for an unforgettable night of family fun and patriotic celebration.”
North of Homestead, Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces will host the county’s annual Fourth of July Celebration at Tropical Park, located at 7900 SW 40th Street in Miami. The event, presented in partnership with TelevisaUnivision, will run from 3 to 9 p.m. and is free and open to the community.
County officials are billing the Tropical Park celebration as Miami-Dade County’s largest Independence Day event. It will be hosted by Univision radio and television personality Javier Romero, who will be joined by on-air personalities from 107.5 AMOR, MIX 98.3 and N+ Univision 23 Miami.
The Tropical Park event will feature live music, food vendors, a Carnival Cruise Line Fun Zone for children and themed photo opportunities. The celebration will close with a fireworks display over Tropical Park’s lake.
Confirmed musical performances include Whiskey All Stars, Celebrity Band 305, Giselle, Orlando Mendez and Piso 21. The Sons of the American Revolution will present the color guard, and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Board Chairman and District 10 Commissioner Anthony Rodriguez are expected to deliver remarks.
The county celebration is also part of Miami-Dade’s America 250 observance, using the theme “We Are America: Miami’s Place in the Nation’s Story.” The theme is intended to recognize the nation’s Semiquincentennial while also highlighting Miami-Dade’s role as a diverse community with deep cultural, economic and international ties.
“This is more than an annual celebration; it is an opportunity to reflect on the values that unite us as a nation,” Mayor Levine Cava said in the county’s announcement.
The Tropical Park event will also serve as the official kickoff to Park and Recreation Month, a national initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association that highlights the role parks and public recreation spaces play in local communities.
Parking at Tropical Park is expected to be limited, and county officials are encouraging guests to arrive early and use public transit, rideshare or carpooling when possible. A designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up area will be available at 82nd Avenue and 48th Street.
Guests attending Tropical Park are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles, picnic blankets, foldable chairs, sunscreen and comfortable clothing. Personal fireworks, tents, umbrellas, alcohol and pets will not be permitted. Tropical Park’s dog park will also be closed for the day.
With celebrations planned from afternoon into the evening, residents will have the option of spending the holiday at a countywide event at Tropical Park or staying closer to home for Homestead’s Race to the 4th at the speedway.
Both events are designed as family-friendly celebrations of Independence Day, with music, activities and fireworks serving as the centerpiece of a historic Fourth of July weekend.
