Florida City residents may see their local museum moved to a location near City Hall.

During a recent meeting, the Commission approved CRA resolution for a contract with RVD Architect to provide basic architecture services for the Florida Pioneer Museum and Historic Limestone Cottage in the amount of $58,000.

It approved a CRA resolution to approve a task order with EAC Consulting, to provide civil engineering topographic survey services for the Museum and Cottage in the amount of $20,895.

“We want to move it near City Hall to provide easier access. More people will come to see it,” said Mayor Otis Wallace.

Florida City has a rich history, and leaders want people to be able to learn more about it.

“We have older items in the museum from the City’s early days. We want to include other items from the history of Florida City as well,” said Wallace.

Currently, the museum is located on Krome Avenue.

The goal would be to move it to Northwest First Street, behind City Hall.
