A Caribbean flamingo chick hatched at Zoo Miami on June 6 and has been named “Florida.” The chick has been cared for by Zoo Miami’s Animal Science staff and will eventually join the flock once fully feathered and feeding independently.
Caribbean flamingos get their pink coloration from carotenoids in their diet.
