Cutler Bay Public Works Director Alfredo Quintero Jr. received an impressive award.
The Town of Cutler Bay announced that Quintero Jr. was named the 2026 Public Works Director of the Year at the American Public Works Association (APWA) Florida Public Works Expo in Tampa.
This prestigious honor, voted on by his peers, recognizes career excellence, leadership and community service among public works professionals with more than 20 years of experience.
The award was presented during the 2026 APWA Florida Public Works Expo in early April at the Tampa Convention Center. The annual event brings together public works professionals from across Florida and the Southeast to share ideas.
This recognition is especially meaningful because it was voted on by Alfredo’s peers, making it a distinguished honor among public works leaders across the state. The award highlights directors who have made significant contributions to the profession, the American Public Works Association and the communities they serve. Alfredo has also served as president of the APWA South Florida Branch, further reflecting his longstanding leadership and impact within the profession.
“Alfredo’s leadership has helped define the standard of excellence we strive for in Cutler Bay,” said Mayor Tim Meerbott.
“This recognition from his peers speaks volumes. It reflects not only his deep knowledge and professionalism, but also the pride and care he brings to serving our residents every day.”
Town Manager Rafael Casals said the award reflects Alfredo’s longstanding commitment to the profession and to the residents of Cutler Bay.
“Alfredo has built a reputation for delivering results, leading with integrity and always keeping the community first,” said Casals.
“For him to be recognized by fellow public works directors from across Florida makes this honor even more special. We are proud to see his work and dedication recognized at this level.”
