Why are you running for mayor of Cutler Bay?

As a 47-year resident of Cutler Bay, my roots here run deep. I was raised in this community, and I raised my sons here.

Throughout my life, I have remained deeply committed to our town. Moving forward, my priority is to ensure the community vision we established together in our charrette more than 20 years ago is fully protected, cared for and respected.

What are the three most important issues facing the town?

Cutler Bay’s economic stability, bringing jobs to the town, and our town’s safety and well-being.

What experience best prepares you to serve as mayor?

Serving Cutler Bay first on the Parks and Recreation Committee in 2019 and then as a council member since 2020 has been an honor.

Through leadership on boards and committees and hands-on community advocacy for all generations, I have built the exact experience needed to step forward as Cutler Bay’s next mayor.

What would be your first major priority?

It will continue to be the protection and welfare of our residents, as well as oversight of town staff to ensure transparency and fiscal responsibility.

Taking care of the businesses already in town will be a top priority, as will continuing to bring additional businesses to Cutler Bay. I will also continue to advocate for environmental protection and ensure further improvements to all existing parks.

How would you address development, traffic and infrastructure concerns?

As a consistent advocate for smart growth in Cutler Bay, I will continue to prioritize development that elevates our community without overwhelming it.

True smart development requires proactive traffic management. I will continue to insist that all future projects undergo independent traffic studies commissioned directly by the town, not by developers. This ensures unbiased data so we can implement traffic-mitigation strategies, such as adding integrated public transit and bus stops, before construction finishes.

During my time on the council, I have successfully championed streamlining the building-permit process at Town Hall. I remain fully committed to being innovative and resourceful while cutting red tape and advocating for this level of administrative efficiency.

How would you remain accessible and accountable?

Accountability and open communication define my leadership. As mayor, I will always be accessible to Cutler Bay residents. I don’t avoid tough conversations; I welcome phone calls, emails and in-person meetings.

Having personally connected with every resident who has reached out to me during my tenure as a council member, I will maintain that exact same dedication to accessibility and accountability as mayor.

What distinguishes you from the other candidates?

No candidate is more accessible or visible in our town than I am. I work closely and effectively with all the elected officials who advocate for the town, from our county commissioner to our state legislators.

I am also proud to be the only woman running for mayor. Having a female mayor ensures our leadership reflects the actual diversity of Cutler Bay as we work together to lift up families, enhance community welfare and build a more collaborative government.

What else would you like voters to know?

I know the issues in Cutler Bay, and I deeply research them to formulate well-thought-out solutions. I welcome residents to reach out and meet with me before Nov. 3 if they would like to get to know me and my positions better.
