Why are you running for Cutler Bay Council Seat 1?
From 2010 to 2018, I proudly served as your Cutler Bay Town Council Member for Seat 1.
When term-limited, the only path to stay was running for Mayor. Balancing a full-time career, I knew I couldn’t give that role the time and dedication our residents deserved.
After an eight-year break, I am running again because Cutler Bay is at a critical turning point. I want to bring my proven experience back to the dais to ensure we manage growth responsibly.
Our small-town feel and unique local character make Cutler Bay wonderful. I will protect that charm while guiding sensible, measured progress for our future.
What are the three most important issues facing residents?
Traffic congestion: Addressing the ongoing, ever-increasing gridlock that affects our residents’ quality of life.
Responsible development: Managing local growth so it strictly respects the integrity of existing neighborhoods and actively prevents additional traffic.
Infrastructure resilience: Upgrading and maintaining our infrastructure to protect our town from flooding and sea-level impacts.
What experience best prepares you to serve on the Town Council?
My eight years of proven legislative results best prepare me to serve. As a hands-on leader, I deliver community-focused results.
For neighborhood safety, I successfully petitioned Miami-Dade County to install flashing radar speed signs on Marlin Road, slowing traffic to protect school children in a dangerous school zone.
For environmental protection, I served on the Florida League of Cities Environmental Committee, championing anti-fracking efforts in the Everglades. On animal welfare, I originated the initiative for the Miami-Dade County Animal Abuse Registry, partnering with Daniella Levine Cava to pass the countywide law.
I will also defend local home rule. I oppose Amendment 3’s tax shift. Decisions about Cutler Bay belong to the residents of Cutler Bay, not Tallahassee politicians.
I will fiercely defend Cutler Bay’s autonomy, safety, and small-town character.
What would be your first major priority?
My absolute first priority is infrastructure.
I will aggressively pursue traffic-reduction strategies while keeping flood mitigation at the forefront. My hands-on experience leading our Floodplain Committee helped deliver our Class 3 rating, saving residents 35% on flood insurance.
On day one, I will use this proven track record to deliver real, cost-effective infrastructure results for Cutler Bay.
How would you address concerns such as traffic, development, drainage and infrastructure, public safety and quality of life?
I address these vital concerns through practical, local solutions.
On development, I believe in enforcing strict resident control. If a project overrides the community’s wishes, it stops.
For drainage and infrastructure, I would accelerate local stormwater improvements, prioritize data-driven engineering projects, and aggressively secure federal funding grants to eliminate neighborhood flooding.
On traffic, I would implement functional traffic-calming measures while pursuing innovative solutions to reduce gridlock.
For public safety and quality of life, I would ensure our budget directly protects our residential neighborhoods, preserves our green spaces, and maintains our unique small-town charm.
How will you remain accessible and accountable?
Accountability means being responsive and straight with people.
I will remain directly accessible by keeping my phone line, email, and neighborhood face-to-face meetings open to every resident. You will always get a direct, honest answer from me.
I will bring that straightforward accessibility back to Seat 1, keeping residents fully informed and actively involved in every decision affecting Cutler Bay
What distinguishes you from the other candidates?
What distinguishes me is simple: I focus strictly on deliverables, not political rhetoric.
My eight years on the Town Council prove it. I am the candidate who secured our school zones, fought to protect our drinking water from fracking, and built the foundation to save residents 35% on flood insurance.
I am entirely results-motivated and do exactly what I say I will do, bringing real experience back to Seat 1.
Anything else voters should know?
I am honored to be back on the ballot for the residents of Cutler Bay.
I want to share the reason behind my campaign’s late start. Shortly after qualifying, I suffered an accident that resulted in a shattered wrist requiring emergency surgery, along with a significant knee injury.
While my physical recovery has temporarily sidetracked my campaign, my dedication to our community remains steadfast and unbroken.
Campaign-wise, I have a lot of catching up to do. As soon as my doctors give me the green light, I plan to hit the ground running — or limping — to make up for lost time.
If elected, I look forward to bringing my full energy and proven experience back to Town Hall.
