South Dade Senior High School's football team returned to the win column in commanding fashion Friday, October 9, defeating Southwest Senior High School 58–0 at Harris Field.
The victory gave the Buccaneers their third win of the season and their third district victory, improving their overall record to 3–5.
South Dade entered the matchup looking to rebound from a narrow 23–22 loss to Miami Southridge the previous week. The Buccaneers responded with their highest-scoring performance of the season, keeping Southwest off the scoreboard throughout the contest.
After several close games and difficult losses earlier in the season, the shutout provided an opportunity for South Dade to build momentum entering the final weeks of its schedule.
The Buccaneers have shown the ability to score in bunches this season, including a 48–0 victory over Homestead in September and a 44–20 win over Coral Gables.
With the regular season nearing its conclusion, South Dade will look to carry that momentum into its upcoming matchups.
The Buccaneers are scheduled to face Miami Northwestern on Saturday, October 17, before returning to district competition against Palmetto on October 22.
