Coral Shores’ volleyball team has been suspended and will likely suffer no less than four losses via forfeit.
The losses also will doom the Lady Hurricanes to missing the playoffs due to FHSAA regulations.
School officials cancelled matches against Carrollton and Gulliver Prep last week citing “we continue our investigation on alleged violations of athletic codes of conduct” in a statement to local media.
Matches against Archbishop Curley and Keys Gate are also expected to be forfeited due to the suspension, with the status of future matches undetermined.
While specifics of the individual violations have not been made public, a source close to the situation told the News Leader that players “broke team rules.”
The suspensions are limited to Coral Shores’ varsity program, with the JV volleyball team continuing their season as scheduled.
