In this day of medical advancements, where gender reveal parties are common for expecting parents, the basic wish for all of them is, “just let my baby be healthy.” Most are of course, yet in reality, many families face a health crisis that can range from quick successful medical solutions to years, instead of a child with severe conditions that require specialized treatment. As explained on their website, the motto of “Where Miracles Happen,” means these South Florida families have a place to turn to as they adjust their lives. That place, in Florida City, is PATCHES.
The name PATCHES stands for Pediatric Alternative Treatment, Care, Housing & Evaluation Services, Inc.; while PPEC means Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care, and their daily efforts are both advanced and uplifting. “Everyday we are making a difference in the lives of medically complex children and their families. We deeply believe that every child deserves to live free of pain and be as healthy as they can be to grow and play. Because of PATCHES, many babies and children are able to get out of the hospital sooner or leave the isolation of home care and spend the day in a safe, enriching environment where they can thrive physically, developmentally and socially. We have helped countless families manage their child’s health care needs so they to support one of these levels is April 23rd, and Andria Curbelo (andriacurbelo@ patchesppec.org) can provide more details. She can also be reached at (786) 734-2565. Individual tickets are $125, and even if attending the dinner is not possible, all donations are appreciated. can feel secure in returning to work or school.”
Their full story, services, and how families can reach out for help are all shown at https://patchesppec.org/.
In the decades since PATCHES was founded, another vision developed; the desire to have a far greater space to expand their extraordinary work. Although a 65,000 square-foot village on five acres of land may seem like a bold plan, generous people are moving forward to fulfill that vision. Thursday, May 16th, their inaugural Farm to Table Event at Hacienda Las Robles, will be held from 6:00-10:00 p.m., with locally sourced gourmet cuisine, fabulous drinks, and music to enjoy.
Attendees will be able to see a sneak preview of their plans, as well as learn more about what is, “truly one of the finest and unique healthcare models in our community.” There are a few sponsorship opportunities remaining from Underwriting to Platinum. Final deadline Lucia Soria, a strong advocate for PATCHES, sent a letter to potential sponsors as a reminder of how the daily twelve hours of care impacts families. “This is a safe, cost-effective environment staffed by dedicated, pediatric nurses, therapists, and educators. PATCHES provides an economic and emotional lifeline to parents who would otherwise have to make extreme financial sacrifices to care for their sick child.” She sums up the intent for the evening. “But most importantly, with your help, we can continue impacting the medically fragile children in Deep South Dade.” She can be reached at lsoria@ ramtechconstruction.com, or (305) 525-6003.
