More people are coming to Miami-Dade County by cruise ship.

PortMiami announced that it welcomed its 10 millionth cruise passenger on Sept. 14.

With the 2026 fiscal year ending Sept. 30, PortMiami has already broken its previous fiscal-year record of 8,564,225 cruise passengers.

The milestone represents the highest annual passenger volume in the port’s history and further supports PortMiami’s designation as the Cruise Capital of the World. County officials said the growth reflects strong global demand for Miami-based cruises, continued investment in cruise terminals and an expansion of cruise-line offerings.

“Breaking the 10 million passenger threshold is a testament to PortMiami’s unwavering dedication to service, sustainability and economic vitality,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.

“This extraordinary milestone underscores our port’s role as a global gateway and a driver of job creation, tourism and local business growth.”

PortMiami Director and CEO Jonathan Daniels said the achievement reflects the work of the port, cruise lines and other partners.

“I’m immensely proud of our team and cruise and port partners, whose collaborative efforts made this achievement possible,” Daniels said.

“Reaching 10 million passengers reflects our focus on innovation, efficiency and superior passenger experience, as we continue to modernize PortMiami’s infrastructure and expand our capacity for future growth.”

The port’s modern infrastructure, including recently completed and upgraded terminals capable of accommodating some of the largest cruise ships in the world, played a role in reaching the milestone.

The facilities are designed to improve passenger flow, streamline the embarkation and debarkation process and improve the overall guest experience.

Cruise activity also contributes to Miami-Dade County’s economy through hotel stays, restaurants, entertainment, local transportation and other tourism-related businesses.

According to Miami-Dade County, PortMiami contributes approximately $61 billion annually to the local economy and supports more than 340,000 jobs.
