While many of us are complaining about the flooding, puddles, and mud, there is at least one very special resident in Miami that is absolutely loving it. Aria, the baby black rhino at Zoo Miami, was captured splashing, rolling and playing in the mud caused by the recent rain storms in the area. She was having a blast running through puddles and rolling in the mud while her mother looked on rather unimpressed.

The joy of this highly endangered animal shows, whether human or animal, kids will be kids and can’t resist jumping through puddles.

NEW BIRTH

On June 16th, Zoo Miami was extremely fortunate to experience the captive hatching of a blue-billed curassow. This is the second hatching of this highly endangered species at Zoo Miami. This turkey sized bird is originally from the humid lowlands of northern Colombia where much of its habitat has been destroyed by logging and mining. It is believed that there are as few as 250 individuals remaining in the wild making it one of the most critically endangered species of birds in the world.
