Homestead residents will soon see America 250 flags displayed throughout the city.
After discussion at a recent meeting, the Council agreed to move forward with an America 250 and Street Flag Program featuring patriotic and city-branded visual enhancements at municipal facilities and along major corridors.
Council members reviewed a presentation with mockups for City Hall, the Police Station and street banners to be installed citywide.
Proposed City Hall enhancements include exterior and interior banners, half-flag bunting and Council Chambers design elements. The chamber treatment would feature the circular city logo and the phrase "In God We Trust," with design options incorporating the U.S. Constitution, the State of Florida Seal or the Florida flag.
Police Department enhancements include banner installations at the main entrance and along the east exterior facing Losner Park and the Veterans Memorial.
The presentation also outlined a citywide street banner program intended to highlight key destinations, community identity and signature themes.
Those themes include Downtown, Losner Park, Homestead Station, the Seminole Theatre, Winter Wonderland, Race to the Fourth, agriculture, the Everglades, Homestead Air Reserve Base, the Speedway and rodeo, "The Future Lives Here" and America 250.
