Florida City welcomed home three of its youngest athletic standouts during a recent City Commission meeting, recognizing their accomplishments after earning All-American honors on the national stage.

Representing the Florida City Razorbacks, Justin Ward, Aidan Louischarles and Tyler Louischarles were celebrated for their performances and for bringing national recognition back to their hometown.

The South Dade News Leader extends its appreciation to Commissioner Trina Wilborn, whose assistance made it possible for the newspaper to meet with the young athletes and their families following the recognition ceremony.

While Justin Ward was unable to attend the interview, Aidan and Tyler had just returned from a demanding competition schedule and admitted they were feeling tired after their travels.

Even so, both smiled as they reflected on what it meant to become All-Americans.

“It felt really good,” they said.

When asked about their favorite events, Aidan quickly pointed to the 400-meter race, while Tyler’s face lit up as he answered, “The 200-meter dash.”

Despite their individual successes, neither athlete focused on personal accolades.

Instead, both credited their coach for helping guide them throughout their journey.

Aidan also made sure to recognize the support he receives from his father and uncle, who stood proudly beside him during the interview.

Their coach Quincy Smith was equally quick to shift the spotlight back onto the athletes.

While he provides the instruction and guidance, he said the accomplishments belong to the children themselves because they are the ones who commit to the training, push through difficult practices and continue working toward their goals. Coach Smith praised their perseverance, competitive spirit and determination, adding that he looks forward to watching them continue to grow both as athletes and as young people.

Aidan and Tyler’s father echoed that sentiment, explaining that he never pushed his sons into the sport.

Instead, he said he asked them whether track and field was truly something they wanted to pursue. Once they made that decision themselves, the family committed to supporting them every step of the way.

The recognition served as more than a celebration of medals and championships. It highlighted the dedication of the young athletes, the commitment of their families and coaches, and the strength of a community that continues to rally behind its youth.

As Florida City honored its newest All-Americans, the message was clear: hard work, determination and family support can take young athletes from local tracks to the national stage.
