Cutler Bay Celebrates Florida City Week

The Town of Cutler Bay is joining municipalities across Florida in celebrating Florida City Week from October 20 to 26, 2025, highlighting the vital role local government plays in everyday life.

Hosted annually by the Florida League of Cities, the week-long event is designed to raise awareness about municipal services and encourage civic engagement among residents.

To help the community better understand how cities operate and how local government directly serves them, the Town has shared a series of educational videos from the Florida League of Cities. These short, two-minute videos cover essential topics such as budgeting, infrastructure, public safety, and community development, giving residents practical insights into how decisions made at Town Hall affect daily life.

“Municipal government is the level of government closest to the people,” said Town Manager Rafael Casais. “Florida City Week gives us the opportunity to remind residents how their local government works for them every day, while also offering practical ways to engage with the Town and access important services.”

In addition to the video series, the Town is hosting two community events designed to give residents hands-on experiences with local government. A community resource fair will bring together local organizations and service providers, giving attendees the chance to learn about available services and discover ways to get involved.

An open house at Town Hall will also allow residents to tour municipal offices, meet local officials, and learn more about the day-to-day operations that keep the Town running smoothly.

Florida City Week is celebrated statewide, with cities tailoring activities to their communities. The Florida League of Cities provides municipalities with planning resources and guidance, helping them organize events ranging from educational workshops and community service projects to public forums.

As Cutler Bay continues to grow, events like Florida City Week play a crucial role in fostering a well-informed and engaged citizenry. By participating in these activities, residents gain a deeper understanding of local governance and can take an active role in shaping the future of their community.
