Children's Trust To Fund Rise Up 4 Change Youth Program

On June 1, 2015, Children's Trust sponsored the local non-profit youth organization "Rise Up 4 Change Inc." which hosts their trainings and workshops at Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay, which they formed a partnership with in 2014. "Rise Up 4 Change", also host trainings/workshops with the assistance of certified math professors to provide tutoring for the children at Chapman Partnership in Homestead on various days which they formed a partnership with in 2013,as they've worked closely with Community Outreach Coordinator Mrs. Sharon Haxton and Chapman Partnership in North Miami Avenue with Outreach Coordinator Mrs. Grace Ugalde-Wolpert with several charity events.

Rise Up 4 Change will be providing financial literacy and business training workshops for the parents at Chapman Partnership in Homestead as well. Rise Up 4 Change Inc. was founded by Angela M. Thomas who was formerly employed by Florida Department of Corrections for more than a decade.

The workshops consist of volunteers from law-enforcement, educators, and college students which are impacting the lives of such a high-needs group of youth from Chapman Partnership providing them with life skills, violence prevention, social ills, computer skills, etiquette skills, job readiness, mentorship and tutoring.

Thomas and her organization is a big supporter in the community and hosts a yearly event in February at Chapman Partnership North and South for the homeless children and families called "Giving From My Heart", to raise awareness and to get the community involved in donating clothing, non-perishable food items, and school supplies to help those in need.

On March 29, 2015, all the volunteers at Rise Up 4 Change along with the help from Walmart store manager Eric Burgains financially fed the entire residence for lunch and were servers on that day at Chapman Partnership 1550 N. Miami Ave, Miami, Fl 33136.Although this organization was without funding, that didn't deter them from hosting the charity events, workshops/ trainings for the children or feeding them. Rise Up 4 Change was originally funded by the volunteers.

Thomas is a local inspirational author, coach, and certified speaker that travels and speaks to the children in Miami-Dade County public schools on the importance of healthy relationships. Thomas believes that change is possible and the community can become a safe place again for our children and families.

She believes we can turn things around if we can just unite and work together and stop pointing the fingers for blame but instead, seek solutions in helping one another, as we continue reaching out to our children to involve them in programs that will continue to shape and mold them into being productive citizens, instead of becoming a statistic or land in prison. Rise Up 4 Change is on the horizon but not to make a name for themselves, they're goals are to make a difference in the lives of the children that we're losing at a rapid speed.
