Rene Froilan Gomez Jr. is running for Cutler Bay Council Seat 3 in the Nov. 3 election.

Office sought: Cutler Bay Council Seat 3
Election date: Nov. 3, 2026
Campaign email: renegomez1984@gmail.com

Why are you running for Cutler Bay Council Seat 3?

I want to be more involved in my community, and I feel this is a good step for me to begin my journey.

I moved here with my family in 2010 and, God willing, I want to stay here the rest of my life.

What experience or background best prepares you to serve on the Town Council?

I will be the first to admit I do not have much experience, but I have energy.

I am also very opinionated, and I make things happen. I like to help people and serve the community.

I had the privilege of serving as vice president on the PTA board for two years at Whigham Elementary and loved it.

What are the three most important issues currently facing Cutler Bay residents?

Traffic, taxes and quality of life.

How would you approach growth and development while protecting residents’ quality of life?

Right now, Cutler Bay should push back on any new development as much as possible.

If there is development, we need to make sure we’re on the front lines keeping them accountable and protecting Cutler Bay’s legacy.

What should the Town do to address traffic, transportation and infrastructure concerns?

We need to work hard to get funding through grants to expand Metro Connect.

I feel our seniors, along with the rest of our residents, like Metro Connect, and the data speaks for itself.

What are your priorities regarding public safety and emergency preparedness?

We need more law-enforcement presence in our town. I feel that should be one of the top things local governments should focus on.

Folks need to feel safe in our town; we need to protect our town from end to end.

How would you support local businesses and economic development in Cutler Bay?

I would like to take a look at the possibility of lowering taxes on small businesses as much as possible.

We also need to show more love to our mom-and-pop locations.

We do not need more taxes or regulations; we need a better free-market economy.

What is one Town policy, program or practice you would most like to improve or change?

I do not want to see a monopoly of vendors working on our events.

I want to give all vendors a chance to work on the events we host in our town. This will give everyone an opportunity to showcase their talent and business or services.

How would you make sure residents remain informed and involved in Town government?

Promote, promote! Social media! Show up at local businesses and spread the word.

Believe me, some residents of this town know who I am and how I am online, hahaha!

What would you like voters to know about you that they may not already know?

I am probably as grassroots as it gets.

I have worked hard all my life, and I am a great asset to whatever I get involved in, whether it be local or career.

I hope I can serve this town sooner rather than later so I can showcase my talent!

My nickname for this town is God’s Town because I feel this town is blessed!
