Pam Gormon

Pam Gorman, a longtime Palmetto Bay resident with more than three decades of experience in finance, is seeking election to the Village Council's Seat 1 in the November 3, 2026, municipal election.

Gorman has called Palmetto Bay home since 1993 and is campaigning on a platform focused on fiscal responsibility, responsible development, neighborhood preservation and improving residents' quality of life.

According to her campaign biography, Gorman graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts before pursuing additional studies in accounting and finance. Her 34-year career included senior accounting positions at Baptist Health South Florida, North Shore Medical Center and Knight-Ridder Shared Services Center.

She identifies her financial background as an important qualification for public office, emphasizing the need for careful budgeting, accountability in government spending and responsible management of taxpayer dollars.

Beyond her professional experience, Gorman has been involved in community issues since Palmetto Bay's incorporation in 2002. Her campaign highlights her advocacy for neighborhood sidewalk repairs, Fire Station 62 and improvements involving the C-100 canal.

Her community involvement has included participation in the Village's Age Friendly Task Force, Arts in Public Places Committee and P3 Downtown Task Force. She has also been involved with the Palmetto Bay Garden Club and Fairchild's Native Plant Network.

Among Gorman's leading campaign priorities is preserving Palmetto Bay's residential character while addressing the challenges associated with growth and development.

Her campaign calls for reducing neighborhood traffic congestion, improving traffic signal coordination, protecting green spaces and maintaining the Village's parks and tree canopy.

Public safety is another focus of her platform. Gorman supports increasing visible police patrols, addressing speeding concerns and strengthening enforcement in neighborhoods and public parks.

She has also emphasized the importance of improving communication between residents and Village Hall, encouraging a more collaborative approach to local government.

Gorman previously sought the Seat 1 position in 2022, when she challenged incumbent Councilmember Patrick Fiore. She is again seeking the position as Fiore reaches the end of his term.

Gorman faces fellow candidate Tana Llinas in the nonpartisan November 3 election.

As Palmetto Bay residents prepare to select their next representatives, the Seat 1 contest provides voters with an opportunity to consider competing approaches to growth, municipal finances, infrastructure and neighborhood priorities.
