The Homestead Senior High School girls flag football team qualified for the state final four tournament, the first time a girls' team sport from the school had done so. The Broncos lost a hard-fought game to Chiles, 12 to 7.

Coach Jamahr Carter would have liked to have won the tournament, but he was very proud of the effort his team made. "We fell behind early, but we scored in the third quarter," he said.

The Broncos got a touchdown on a pass from Jeryniyah Fowles to Caitlylyn Gibson.

Carter believes the Broncos could return next year. He said the team has three top returning players, including Zakiera Cobb, Kiani Graham, and Gernai Davis.

The Broncos will miss their top seniors, but they will move on to college flag football. Chanel Smith, Takiyah Grey, and Gibson will play for Andrew College. Fowles will play for Life University, and Kelis Durham will play for Florida Gateway College.
