Undefeated Miami has climbed to No. 4 in the AP Poll after Act 1 of its season, with a gauntlet beginning Saturday at Clemson’s Death Valley.
Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney rewrote Miami record books in a 45-6 rout of Stanford. Toney broke the single-game receiving mark with 234 yards on 12 catches and three touchdowns, passing Eddie Brown's 220 from 1984; Mensah set Miami debut records with 401 yards and five touchdowns on 27-of-30 passing. The defense held Stanford under 300 total yards, though cornerback OJ Frederique left with an apparent arm or shoulder injury.
