Jean A. Mizell, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Born May 11, 1935 in Hendson, County of Middlesex, England to James and Sarah Groves. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George and her twin sister Joan.
She met Floyd E. Mizell when he was stationed in England, they married on Oct. 31, 1955 in Williamston, N.C. He was in the U.S.A.F. They lived the military life traveling with their five children to six military bases, retiring in 1975 from Homestead Air Force Base. They lived in Cutler Ridge, she retired from Miami-Dade County Schools, where she was a Baker at Gulfstream Elementary School. Later in life she moved to Port Charlotte, Florida.
She lived through simple pleasures chatting with friends and family. She enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids reading stories, afternoons of fun and sun in the pool and don't forget her afternoon tea.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, survived by her five children: Susan (Bill) Krasovic; Sherry (Thomas) Cox; Floyd "Bud" Mizell Jr.; Sandra (John) Gaffney and James (Wendy) Mizell; Five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Our wonderful memories of mom(granny) will live forever in our hearts. The family will hold a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local humane society, or donate to a charity of your choice.
