Homestead High has been holding spring football practices. Ronnie Thornton Jr. Is the new football coach at Homestead Senior High. He is looking forward to the upcoming season and believes the Broncos can be successful. Last year the team made it to the state championship game but lost in a hard-fought contest to St. Thomas Aquinas, one of the best football teams in the U.S. Thornton is pleased with the effort the players are making. “I think we have a good team and we have dedicated and talented players coming back,” he said. Top players for the upcoming season include Cortez Mills, Joshua Townsend and Eduardo Nunez.

The South Dade Senior High School football team has been conducting spring practice sessions in preparation for the upcoming fall season. New Coach Chris Reid is excited about the players he has seen in action and believes they will do well.
“We have had some good practices and we have dedicated athletes,” he said. “I think we can have a good season this fall.”
Reid is an alumnus of South Dade and played on the team during his high school years. Top players include Sedric Melvin, Nick Wilton, Anthony Reed, Tedrick Lee, Tedarius Hughes, Mark Brandt and Jean Calixte.
