Senior guard Grevaughn Goodman is settling into a groove this month.

After scoring 25 points in a win over Southridge last week, Goodman poured in a season-high 26 points in an 82-20 win over Varela on Tuesday.

“We played a lot better together,” Goodman said. “In the past games we weren’t focusing on teamwork, but today it was a better team effort.”

Homestead pressed the entire game coming up with 27 steals as six players had at least three led by Midash Benoit’s six.

“We were hungry on defense to run up the score and get it over,” said Goodman, who had five steals.

The Broncos (11-5) jumped out to an 18-2 lead to start the game and never looked back on their way to shooting 49.3 percent (35 of 71) from the floor.

“This wasn’t a test,” head coach Connie Moore said.

Goodman helped set the tone for the Broncos scoring 11 points in the first quarter. He finished 10 for 17 from the floor making four 3-pointers to go with three rebounds and two assists.

“Grevaughn is finally finding his rhythm,” Moore said. “Now it’s just finding the Grevaughn to play consistent basketball.”

The Broncos are getting closer to full strength with senior guard Alejandro Caula playing in his third game following a suspension. Caula had 13 points on 6-for-16 shooting with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Senior center Rahmod Smith (calf) was held out, but is expected to return soon.

“Just trying to get everybody healthy and get ready for the playoffs,” Moore said.

Senior forward Terrill Cobbs scored 17 points with six rebounds and freshman guard Daniel Zeledon had 11 points giving the Broncos four double-digit scorers.

“We are trying to get everybody involved more so we can take it all the way,” Goodman said.
