We are starting out this coming week in a fresh new year. This will be a year I look forward to. None of us know what will happen but we go forward with enthusiasm.

At the beginning of a new year everyone usually focuses on their health and losing weight. They make those new year’s resolutions that last about a week and then they are gone. Been there and done that so that is why I do not make resolutions.

I know I haven’t talked about my weight lately but I have to say, this year I am starting out at my lowest weight in at least 25 years. I have been doing the KETO diet and since last year, I have lost 90.5 pounds. I have gone from 338 pounds to 247.5 as of this week.

Yes I am still obese but for the first time in years, I actually like looking at pictures of myself. I can now put my arms down at my side and not have them stick out because of the fat under my arms. I can now go to restaurants and sit in booths and actually fit with room to spare. I do not worry now about

sitting in folding chairs.

Size wise, I am very happy. As of this week I have gone from a size 26 to a size 18 with room to spare. The homeless center has been gifted with at least 15 bags of large woman’s clothing. The bad part is that I have to buy new clothes.

Life as an obese person is difficult. Many people do not know how embarrassing it can be to be and obese person. It is not our choice to be obese. People say, “Oh, just stop overeating.” Well, that is like telling a drug addict to stop shooting up or a smoker to stop lighting up. It is not so easy!

Emotions play a large part in overeating. I was and still am an emotional eater.

Why? I have no clue. Sometimes I think because, as a child, a family relative made sexual advances to me that just threw me for a loop. I never told anyone but was scared to death of this man. Did that play a part? No idea.

It’s always good to look back at life but it is even more exciting, as the new year approaches, to look forward.

So what do I look forward to this new year? I’m looking forward to better health and a big move for which the countdown has begun. What will the fresh new year hold for you and what are you looking forward to? Our hope is a happy, healthy new year to all!
