Michael Wilson Morgan, Sr. slipped into eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2018, in Covington, LA. He was born on December 25, 1945, in Augusta, GA to the late Susie Wilson Morgan and Louis Sidney Morgan.

Mike grew up in Twin City, Georgia. He graduated from Emanuel County Institute in 1963. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University in 1967. After teaching French for three years in Jackson, Georgia, he entered Georgia State University and graduated with a Master of Actuarial Science degree in 1972. He became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1976. He was also a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Certified Life Underwriter, and a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. He was employed in the life and health insurance industry in Louisiana and Florida until his death.

In 1972, Mike and his wife, Elaine, moved to Metairie, LA, where they raised their children and were members of Munholland United Methodist Church for eighteen years.

Mike is

survived by his beloved wife, Elaine, to whom he was married for 50 years. He was the loving father of Marie Morgan Growden (Brad), Michael Wilson Morgan, Jr., and Jonathan Dupree Morgan. Mike was the proud grandfather of Monica, Morgan, and Bethany Growden. He was the brother of Chris Morgan (Linda) and Steve Morgan (Liz).

A memorial service was held at Munholland United Methodist Church on Friday, January 12, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Louisiana United Methodist Children’s Home, 901 S.
