Leo Rewis, 88, longtime resident of Homestead, went to be in the presence of our Lord on Saturday the 24th of February.

He was born in MacClenny Florida in 1929. He moved to Homestead in the early 1950's and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for thirty years and retired on his 55th birthday. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force in the latter 1940's.

He married Bonnie Groover in 1956. After her death in 1986, he married Ann Lofton Rewis and they have been married for 29 years. Next month it would have been 30 years. Leo had two surviving siblings, Edwin in North Florida and Mildred in California.

He is survived by his step-daughter Jamie Nelson and son- in- law Robert Nelson. Also four grandchildren; Brooke Sharpe, Courtney Connelly, Zach Nelson, and Autumn Marsh and nine great-grandchildren, who all loved him very much. Our most precious memories were the catfish fries at their home. Nobody made catfish like he could or hush puppies the way Ann did. On weekday early mornings, he always looked forward to meeting the "local boys" for coffee at Royal Palm. Y'all were very special to him.

As wonderful as all these things were to him, nothing will be able to surpass how enthralled he is now in his new heavenly home. No pain or suffering and a new body because of Jesus Christ our Lord. Some of us will get to see him again for all eternity.

Our family would like to say "Thank you " to the Lofton's for all of their support and help during this difficult time, Bo and Nancy, Janice, Dixie and Jason, We sincerely appreciate you all.

Funeral Services will be at Palms Woodlawn at 2 pm on Saturday, March 3 at 27100 Old Dixie Highway in Naranja, Fl.
