Obituary - Clara Klein Zeigler

Clara passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on January 17, 2018. She was 102 years old.

Clara was born on August 11, 1915 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Mr. & Mrs. Emilia and Jacob Klein. At the age of 11, she moved to Chicago, where she

completed grade school and later attended Chicago’s College of Commerce and studied Business, English and Court Reporting. Clara was married in 1934 and gave birth to a beautiful son, Gary Lee Shafer, in 1937. Her marriage dissolved two years later but she decided to go back to school and began working as a secretary for Western Electric. Fate and love merged in 1944, when Clara met Robert “Bob” Ziegler at a Western Electric dance, and were married on November 29, 1947. In the summer of 1958, Clara and Bob moved to Homestead, Florida and later found

success in owning and running Kwik Print of Cutler Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, many brothers and sisters and husband Robert Warren Ziegler.

She is survived by her loving son Gary Lee Shafer, Sr. and daughter in-law Lois Orme Shafer.

She is also survived by her brothers Robert E. Klein, Donald E. Klein and many nieces and nephews.

Grandchildren: Dianne Diffee (Patrick), Robert “Bobby” Shafer (Cindy), Gary Lee Shafer, Jr. (Elizabeth), Ronda Martino (Louis) and Johnie “Patty” Mowell (William); Great Grandchildren: David Diffee, Robert Diffee, William Mowell, Kristen Roseman, Ashley Shafer, and Kayla Bauer; Great-Great Grandchildren: Jason Diffee and Paisleigh Roseman.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
