Local Man Sets Example in Profitable Hog Raising – Silver Palm’s Enterprising Storekeeper. Wm. Anderson of Silver Palm is a strong advocate when it comes to hog raising in South Dade-and on home grown feed, too. Several months ago, he purchased the Dougherty place north of Silver Palm and added his herd to the ones that were already there, making a grand total of 66 hogs. The hogs are fed corn grown by Mr. Anderson and there is no waste, as chickens are allowed to run in the pens and they gather what the hogs leave. L

Last April Mr. Anderson sold a pig weighing 400 pounds for $147. There is a flock on turkeys on the farm, as well as some Holstein cows and they’re

coming up fine. If some people say “It can’t be done” see Mr. Anderson’s farm and what he has done, they would say less about their theory that says hogs can’t be raised in South Dade.
