The reigning Miss Homestead, Amanda Shoopman, can hardly believe it’s almost time for the pageant as the months have slipped by in a flurry of activities and events. The pageant will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Seminole Theatre, 18 N. Krome Ave, Homestead and applications are open until January 15, 2018.

Young ladies who are between the ages of 18 and 25 by the end of the year 2018 and are resident in Miami Dade County or the Upper Keys, zip code 33070 and 33037 for at least six months are eligible to compete.

   In addition to the

winner being named Miss Homestead, the pageant is a preliminary to the Miss Florida and Miss America pageants.

Of special importance is the opportunity to earn scholarships towards college education.

All contestants will be evaluated in four different areas of an interview, talent competition, swimsuit, and evening gown. The dimensions of community service and education are emphasized as each individual must also have an

established platform they will discuss during the course of competition.

Applications are available online at http://Misshomestead.org  or by contacting by e-mail Mary Jane Trent at sti3@att.net
