The gym is packed during the month of January. Half of the people are trying to fulfill their New Year’s Resolutions. The other half can’t wait until February when the first half has given up hope.

You may be someone that makes new resolutions every year with the best intentions and even more determination than last year. On the other hand, you may be someone that has long given up the idea of making resolutions because you are a realist and you know that it won’t last anyway. Either way you are left disappointed in yourself. You once again fall short on the becoming the person that you would like to become.

Don’t lose hope. Here are 3 things that will help you keep your New Year’s Resolutions:

Make changes because it is right.

Don’t make the change because of the date on the calendar. That is a terrible reason to do anything. Trying to improve is a good thing whether physically or spiritually. The Bible tells us that our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. It is the only body that we get so we should take care of it.

Far more important is our spiritual health. Maybe we know that we should read the Bible and pray more. Maybe we know that we should tell more people about the gift that Jesus has given them. That He died on the cross to pay for their sins so that they can have eternal life. All these things are great things to do. In fact, if we know we should do them and don’t, it is sin. Don’t make changes because of the date on the calendar, do it because it is right.

If When you fail don’t quit.

It does not matter how great our intentions are or how determined we are, we will fail. There are so many things outside of our control. The

sooner that we realize this the better, otherwise we will get discouraged. Don’t stay down, get back up and keep fighting.

Do it for others.

Most people today will tell you to look out for number 1. The Bible says the opposite. We are to put God first, and then put others before ourselves. God promises that He will take care of us if we seek Him first. Make resolutions with the idea of helping others. Eating healthy and exercising will

better equip us to help others. The Lord will renew our strength if we are spending time in His Word and praying. Doing this in the Lord’s strength brings success for both us and others. Quitting is harder to do when we know that others are counting on us.

Let’s start the year off right January 1st at 1pm at the Florida City Park/Loren Roberts Park. We will be seeking God’s help in this New Year.

I’ll still see you at the gym in February, right?
