South Dade Middle School Teacher Arrested for DUI, Battery on Officer, Child Abuse

Police have arrested a South Dade Middle School teacher for battery on a law enforcement officer and child abuse with no harm.

Saryna Parker, an 8th-grade science teacher faces multiple charges from the Sunday arrest including DUI, DUI with property damage, battery of a police officer and child abuse after she crashed her vehicle on South Dixie Highway near Southwest 182nd Avenue in Homestead, according to an arrest report.

Parker is suspected of driving drunk with her child in the backseat. She was arrested after crashing into another car, then kicking a responding officer in the groin.

Parker appeared in court on Monday and was released from jail on $5,000 bond.

School board officials said Parker, a probationary teacher was fired and will never be allowed to work for Miami-Dade Schools again.
