Christmas can be dim for families who do not have the financial means to provide due to loss of jobs or illness. Once again the parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Homestead realized the needs of the community.

A giving tree was set up in the church with ornaments on it listing a gift for a child. Parishioners took the ornament and returned it attached to the gift.

Volunteer Jack Scott stated, “272 families were provided for this year through our program. One little boy asked only for a crucifix for Christmas and we were happy to fulfill his wishes along with a brand new bike.” The youth groups at Sacred Heart along with adult volunteers helped to sort and distribute the gifts to the needy families.
