The work on the new Florida City casino began about two weeks ago on eight of the thirty eight acres that will be developed incrementally by Kings Court Key, an affiliate of Hialeah Park. Link Construction is the contractor. Completion of Phase 1 is scheduled for June 11.

The project is seen as adding one more destination activity which will attract visitors to South Miami-Dade County. Phase 1 is estimated to provide 89 jobs.

When all phases of the casino are constructed the impact on Florida City and the south end of the County will be huge.

Florida City Mayor Otis Wallace sees this as "a catalyst for further development of other businesses and just one more destination to draw visitors."
