Picking another swing state over Florida, the Democratic National Committee has chosen Milwaukee to host its 2020 national convention. Miami-Dade County sought to draw the convention, as Florida is poised to again play a major role in next year’s presidential election.

Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber issued a statement expressing disappointment in the party’s decision and pointed to a “bipartisan” effort in South Florida that included Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.

Wisconsin is expected to play a key role in Democrats’ hopes to regain the White House, after President Donald Trump won the battleground state in 2016.
