The Able Trust today named Miami Dade College as a recipient of the 2018 Strategic Employment Placement Initiative Grant, awarding them a $250,000 grant to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities. These grants address the employment placement of Floridians with disabilities and cover a three-year period.

Miami Dade College is being awarded $250,000 for MEED+ (Model for Enhanced Employment Development Plus). MEED+ will focus on the three goals for the project, with a theme of increasing the employability of students with disabilities at Miami Dade College. These goals are: 1) increase internship and job placements for students with disabilities; 2) increase individual career development sessions and career services sessions; and 3) increase career services workshops for students and disability awareness workshops for employers and organizations in the community.

“We are incredibly grateful for this grant, which will undoubtedly support MDC’s continuous efforts to increase employment opportunities for all individuals, especially those with disabilities who will benefit from great

opportunities to contribute to our state’s economic development,” said Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón, president of Miami Dade College.
