Homestead Man busted with illegal lobsters, boating while intoxicated

Manny Dorta, 31, of Homestead, was arrested on Saturday charged with harvesting 56 undersized lobsters.

Dorta was also charged with boating under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .137.

Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) were notified Saturday evening about a center console boat driving erractically through Whale Harbor Channel in Islamorada.

Officers saw a boat matching the description, and followed Dorta as he pulled into a boat slip and started tossing lobsters onto a dock.

Dorta was arrested and processed through Plantation Key, and released on bail.

Dorta had 61 lobsters on his boat according to FWC reports. The legal per-person limit per day is six lobsters.
