On Friday September 4th, Homestead’s Military Affairs Council (MAC) partnered with Farm Share to hold a food distribution focused on military families and veterans. With volunteers coming from the MAC, the Marine Corps League, VFW Post 4127, SOCSOUTH, 482 Fighter Wing, the Homestead Air Reserve Honor Guard and Coral Springs High School, a drive-through distribution site was set up in the parking lot of the long closed Base Exchange and Commissary. 500 family-sized portions of chicken, milk, orange juice, apples, raisins, and potatoes were prepared for contactless delivery into vehicles.

Roxanne Jeghers, Chair of the MAC, when asked about the event said, “What we found with all the other food drives the lineups were so large, the military reached out to us because they could not stay in those lines for so long. We wanted to do one for the military.
