In an effort to help local children thrive in school, Kellogg’s, Fresco y Más and Winn-Dixie supermarkets are putting more books in more hands.

Fresco y Más and Winn-Dixie donated 6,000 books to the Miami-Dade County Public School District on October 25 during Family Literacy Night at three local Migrant Labor Camps (Everglades Migrant Labor Camp, South Dade Migrant Labor Camp, and Redland Migrant Labor Camp) as part of their in-store promotion with Kellogg’s.

Sergio Benitez, Director of Operations at Fresco y Más, read to students and Fresco y Más associates surprised a classroom of students with free books.

Founded in 2016, Fresco y Más grocery stores serve Hispanic communities throughout South and Central Florida. Fresco y Más is a subsidiary of Southeastern Grocers, which is one of the largest supermarket chains based in the Southeast.

Founded in 1925, Winn-Dixie grocery stores, liquor stores and in-store pharmacies serve communities throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. is a subsidiary of Southeastern Grocers. Photos: SJP
