This to give notice that the City of Florida City, FL has submitted an application for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG funds) to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). The funding is provided by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and will be used to assist the Participating Party (Navkar of Florida City, LLC) for providing required infrastructure improvements to be constructed at the new AlphaOne Hotel to be located on E. Palm Drive in Florida City, Florida.

This notice is required by Section 2(a)(4) of Executive Order 11988 for Floodplain Management and by Section 2(b) of Executive Order 11990 for the Protection of Wetlands and is implemented by HUD Regulations found at 24 CFR 55.20(b) for the HUD action that is within and/or affects a floodplain or wetland. Construction will be undertaken in the 100-year floodplain.

The City of Florida City, FL is interested in alternatives and public perceptions of possible adverse impacts that could result from the project as well as potential mitigation measures. The installation of required public infrastructure located on the AlphaOne Hotel site on E. Palm Drive are located within the 100-year floodplain area. The funds to be received by the City through the FFY 2018 Florida Small Cities Block Grant Program – Economic Development category are administered by the City and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

The comment period is open for fifteen (15) days and begins March 23, 2020. Written comments must be received by Mr. Jon Ward, Florida City CRA Executive Director at 404 W.
